Hi, All
It was suggested that I needed a bone scan last week and I took advantage of
a short notice appointment today. For anyone worried about having one of these
PLEASE do not worry The clinic was on time, I was asked if I take anything for
my bones and whether I had broken any bones in last 2 years. I had to lie on a flat
hard table and the machine clicked and whirred at shoulder height (if standing)
No buttons, zips on clothes. My bra was undone for me. After 3 minutes it was over.
It has taken longer to write this than it took to do it. EASIER than an xray. Please don't worry
if you are asked to have one. If neccessary calcium supplements can be given.
Hope this allays any fears Anne

Hi Rose,

Being on steroids should entitle you to have a dexascan free of charge.
Was it your GP who refused to refer you for one? You can pay to have it done and I don't think it costs much but you should not have to! I have had 2 in the last 4 years, just based on the fact that I have had occasional steroid injections.
